The Toronto Raptors have high hopes for their power forwards starting in 2011-12

24-year old Amir Johnson got a nice contract from the Raptors last season and they hope he continues to earn his cash by playing well. Johnson played in 72 games (54 starts) for the Raptors last year and he averaged 25.7 minutes, 9.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.2 blocked shots per game. He has now played in 289 games (83 starts) in his NBA career so far and he is averaging 17.8 minutes, 5.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 1.1 blocked shots per game. 22-year old Ed Davis will be Johnson’s backup once again in 2011-12. Davis played in 65 games (17 starts) for the Raptors as a rookie last year and he averaged 24.6 minutes, 7.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 1.0 blocked shot per game last year. The Raptors need rebounding and shot blocking out of their power forwards as they don’t get much of it from their centers.
